Transport Process
We follow a comprehensive shipping process to ensure the safe and humane transportation of our precious little ones. Here’s an overview of the steps involved.
01
Preparation for Shipping
-
Health Check: Each kitten undergoes a thorough health examination by a licensed veterinarian to ensure they are fit for travel. Vaccinations are updated, and health certificates are issued.
-
Microchipping: Kittens are microchipped for identification purposes, providing peace of mind for both the we and the new owner.
-
Documentation: Necessary paperwork, including health certificates, vaccination records, and microchip information, is prepared.
02
Choosing a Shipping Method
-
Air Transport: The preferred method for shipping is via air, using reputable pet transport services that specialize in live animal transport.
-
Ground Transport: For nearby locations, ground transport may be an option, ensuring less stress for the kitten.
03
Travel Crate Preparation
-
Crate Selection: A sturdy, airline-approved travel crate is selected, sized appropriately for the kitten to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
-
Comfort Items: Familiar items, such as a blanket or toy, may be added to the crate to help reduce anxiety during travel.
04
Booking the Flight
Scheduling: We schedule the flight, considering temperature regulations and the best times for travel to ensure the kitten's safety.
Confirmation: Confirmation of the flight details is communicated to the new owner.
05
Day of Shipping
-
Final Health Check: A final health check is performed before departure to ensure the kitten is ready for travel.
-
Feeding: Kittens are fed a light meal prior to shipping, and water is provided in the crate.
-
Transportation to Airport: Kittens are transported to the airport in a climate-controlled vehicle.
06
Arrival and Handover
-
Receiving the Kitten: Upon arrival at the destination airport, the new owner is notified and must be present to pick up the kitten.
-
Post-Arrival Check: New owners are advised to conduct a health check and consult a veterinarian shortly after arrival to ensure the kitten's well-being.
07
Follow-Up
-
Post-Shipping Support: Whiskers And Coon provides follow-up support and advice for new owners to help them acclimate their new kitten to its home.

What to Expect on Delivery Day

Before Arrival
We'll send you complete flight details at least 24 hours in advance. Arrive at the cargo facility 30-45 minutes before the scheduled arrival time with a photo ID.
At Pickup
You'll pick up your kitten from the airline cargo facility (not the passenger terminal). Bring your ID, adoption paperwork, and an additional carrier or secure way to transport your kitten home.
First Hours Home
Your kitten may be tired or slightly stressed after travel. Provide a quiet, safe space with food, water, and a litter box. Most kittens adjust within a few hours. We're available 24/7 for post-arrival support.
Setting the Home
Before your kitten arrives, set up a safe room with litter box, food and water bowls, scratching post, and cozy bedding. Have the same food brand we use on hand to avoid digestive upset.
